Amaterra is looking for a Building Services Director to join the team! As the Building Services Director, you will plan and implement all activities that safeguard the physical assets of the winery, restaurant, and grounds. This includes maintenance and improvement planning, ensuring the building and equipment are in good condition and working properly and efficiently, and ensuring the grounds and all common areas are attractive, clean and well-maintained.

Amaterra is looking for a Building Services Director to join the team! As the Building Services Director, you will plan and implement all activities that safeguard the physical assets of the winery, restaurant, and grounds. This includes maintenance and improvement planning, ensuring the building and equipment are in good condition and working properly and efficiently, and ensuring the grounds and all common areas are attractive, clean and well-maintained.
Our Ideal Candidate:
- Will be passionate about wine, winemaking, and providing a customer-centered food and wine experience.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, industrial management, construction management or a related field and 7 years experience in facilities maintenance or a related field; or Associates degree plus 10 years of related experience; or High school diploma and 13 years experience in facilities maintenance with documented training in relevant areas of equipment maintenance.
- Strong understanding of building systems to include; HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, floor coverings, elevators, etc.
- Experience in wine production is a plus.
- CFM (IFMA), CHFM (ASHE), FMC (BOMI) or comparable certification preferred.
- Previous positions must demonstrate increasing responsibility
- Valid Driver's License.
- Methods, materials, terminology, equipment, and tools used in construction, maintenance, and repair of building structures and systems including rough and finish carpentry, floor coverings, painting, plumbing, heating/cooling, fire protection, electrical including low voltage (fire alarm, telephone/data, security, etc.).
- Methods, materials, terminology, equipment, and tools used in the custodial, grounds, and vehicle and equipment maintenance areas.
- Principles and practices of preventative maintenance and repair.
- Safety regulations/codes and safe work practices.
- Vendor management, including understanding of contracts and the bidding process.
- Methods of estimating costs of construction and repair of buildings and grounds.
- Relevant local, state, and federal laws, ordinances, codes, and rules affecting construction, repairs, and operation of the facility.
- Business report writing.
- Basic principles and practices of budget development and fiscal management.
Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:
- Model the Amaterra Values in decision-making and in interactions with team members and guests.
- Supervise, plan, coordinate, schedule, and participate in the maintenance operations of the building, grounds, and roadways.
- Supervise, plan, coordinate, and schedule the custodial and groundskeeping operations of the facility and roadways.
- Read and interpret plans and specifications.
- Interpret and explain departmental policies and procedures.
- Identify and estimate costs of maintenance and operations projects.
- Maintain records and prepare reports.
- Identify and make recommendations regarding long-range capital improvement and maintenance needs.
- Use personal computers, including appropriate software and other standard office equipment.
- Communicate clearly and concisely and follow directions, both written and verbal.
- Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
- Demonstrate tact and diplomacy in dealing with guests, team members, and others.
- Follow company policies and procedures and participate in creating and updating these policies as needed.
- Regular, predictable, and reliable attendance and punctuality.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Amaterra is a full production estate winery. All team members will need to be open to assisting (not required) with production, bottling, and harvest. Responsibilities are as follows:
- Execute routine cellar and packaging activities.
- Cleaning is a primary function of this role and the winemaking process in general. This will include equipment, facilities (floors/walls), and barrels. These conditions are sometimes extended hours and wet and/or cold environment.
