Job Description
Role Overview
As a Radiology Medical Coder, you will be responsible for accurately assigning CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes for various radiology procedures. You will work closely with medical staff and billing teams to ensure compliance with federal regulations, maintain data accuracy, and optimize reimbursement processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Medical Coding: Assign accurate CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes for radiology procedures, ensuring correct documentation and billing.
- Review & Compliance: Analyze medical documentation for completeness and compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and other regulatory standards.
- Radiology Specialization: Code reports for multiple radiology modalities, including X-ray, MRI, CT, and ultrasound.
- Accuracy & Productivity: Maintain a coding accuracy rate of at least 96% while processing a high volume of reports efficiently.
- Billing Coordination: Collaborate with the billing department to resolve coding discrepancies and ensure timely claims processing.
- Insurance Communication: Work with insurance companies to clarify coding-related queries and minimize claim denials.
- Regulatory Adherence: Ensure compliance with HIPAA, federal coding guidelines, and internal policies.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 2 to 4 years of experience in radiology medical coding.
Certification: CPC, CCS, RCC, or any recognized medical coding certification (preferred).
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in radiology coding for X-ray, MRI, CT, and ultrasound.
- Experience using medical coding software and billing systems.
- Knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid regulations and coding guidelines.
Analytical & Communication Skills:
- Ability to interpret and analyze medical records.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication skills for coordination with billing and insurance teams.
