JOB DESCRIPTION:
If you are looking for meaningful work empowering families in a time of need, this position may be a good fit for you. As a Nurturing Parenting Practitioner (NPP), your role will be to explore with caregivers their parenting attitudes and behaviors and empower them to develop a more nurturing approach in identified areas of need. NPP’s are provided assessment tools and established curriculum to teach Nurturing Parenting skills. Each parenting lesson is accompanied by activities, observation, and debriefing with the caregiver in their home. This position services all of Maricopa county, however, AGAF staff attempt to keep workers as close to home as possible. The position has a flexible schedule, however, NPP’s need to be available to meet when the family is all home which is often after school and/or weekend. Documentation, team meetings, and supervision support are conducted virtually, and there is no in-person office time required.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Build trust and rapport with families referred by DCS
- Meet with caregivers in their homes to provide in-person instruction
- Follow the Nurturing Parenting curriculum as designed
- Collaborate with DCS Specialists and other providers as needed
- Complete all required program documentation
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- A passion for helping families in need
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Either an Associates Degree in Behavioral Health field with no additional experience required OR 2 years experience working with children/youth/families in a professional or volunteer capacity.
- Must have or be able to obtain a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card ·
- Must have a valid driver’s license, proof of insurance and vehicle, with a clean driving record (no major violations or DUI) within the past 5 years
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening including marijuana
- Reading and writing in English is required
- Spanish, ASL, and all other languages welcomed

- Ability to relate well with families of varied lifestyles, backgrounds, and ethnicities
- Experience mentoring, educating, or coaching
- Experience in cultural diversity
- Ability to assess a family’s strengths and weaknesses
- Ability to recognize signs of abuse/neglect
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to communicate with clients, family members and professionals.
- Critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Computer skills (Google workspace, and Adobe PDF)
