Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Dog Trainer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in animal care and training, with the ability to work effectively with dogs of all breeds and temperaments. As a Dog Trainer, you will be responsible for teaching obedience, socialization, and specialized skills to dogs while also providing guidance to their owners. This role requires excellent communication skills, patience, and a genuine love for animals.
Duties
- Develop and implement training programs tailored to individual dogs and their owners.
- Conduct one-on-one training sessions focusing on obedience, behavior modification, and socialization.
- Utilize positive reinforcement techniques to encourage desired behaviors in dogs.
- Assess the progress of each dog and provide feedback to owners on training techniques and best practices.
- Maintain a safe and clean training environment for both dogs and clients.
- Provide basic animal care as needed, including grooming and handling.
- Assist in managing client relationships through effective customer service.
- Collaborate with veterinary technicians or other animal care professionals when necessary.
Requirements
- Proven experience in dog training or related fields such as veterinary care or animal restraint.
- Knowledge of pet grooming practices is a plus.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients.
- Experience in animal care, including handling various breeds and sizes of dogs.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required for handling larger dogs or equipment.
- Familiarity with kennel operations is advantageous
- Must possess patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with animals.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.50 - $20.00 per hour
