· AS/BS in Computer Science; or Certification in a relevant field (CCENT, Network , CCNA) and up to 2 years of Networking Deployment experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Deliver simple, sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes.
· Good understanding of infrastructure technologies, including Routers, Switches, Load Balancers and Firewalls at the enterprise level.
· Familiarity with common networking terms and fabric based network design.
· Manage work and priorities through ticketing system and workflows.
· Comfort-ability with small to medium and slightly complex project scopes and ambiguous details within work environment. · Excellent judgement and analytical skills, ability to prioritize tasks based on fluctuating needs. · Experience with structured cabling infrastructure best practices and methodologies. · Knowledge of network cabling (fiber and copper). · Experience with copper and fiber test equipment, such as VFL, power meter, and OTDR. · Troubleshooting cabling infrastructure connectivity issues, including patch panels and patch cords. · Strong understanding of Ethernet and IP networking. · Specifying Power and Cooling requirements and ensuring Hardware Racking/Stacking completed for new equipment. · Background in large scale datacenter network implementations and support. · Experience working in virtualized enterprise networking environments. · Knowledge or awareness of IT best practice frameworks (ITIL, LEAN, AGILE) and Operational Excellence concepts or methodologies is a plus Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. We are looking to hire a motivated Network Technician to join our team within network infrastructure deployment. The candidate will work with minimum supervision in a dynamic environment to drive the expansion of our next-generation networks.
The position responsibilities will include scaling support of several data center locations and be responsible for physically deploying network equipment inside our Data Centers, troubleshooting links and oversee cabling project completion from vendors. The Network Technician will work closely with both internal customers and external vendors to facilitate smooth project execution as directed by Technical Program Managers. - Collaborate with various stake holders to remove project obstacles.
- Work closely with our Network Engineering & Network Technical Project Manager teams to ensure fast, smooth rollout of established designs and products.
- Troubleshooting of fiber and copper cabling.
- Troubleshoot networking, routing and inter connectivity issues, including troubleshooting of network device configuration and low level application interaction.
- Troubleshoot/turn up optical spans through the use of OTDR
- Complete customer requests via Remedy trouble ticketing system and project management workflows.
- Participate in the migration, basic configuration and rollout of new or upgraded hardware.
- Ability to travel within geographical work area is required, some travel outside traditional work area may be requested.
