At AWS Utility Computing (UC), we deliver pioneering product innovations ranging from essential services like Amazon's Simple Storage Service (S3) and Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) to cutting-edge offerings that continuously distinguish AWS in the industry. As part of our UC organization, you'll be engaged in the development and management of services in Compute, Database, Storage, IoT, and more, including specialized security solutions for customers utilizing cloud services.

The EC2 Networking team at Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a skilled Software Development Engineer II to help us design, deliver, and maintain intricate products that not only satisfy our customers but also elevate our performance standards. Your role will focus on building fault-tolerant systems that operate on a massive scale while we innovate and enhance our existing services and applications in the AWS Cloud.

As a member of the VPC team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the evolution of our services while working on exciting new initiatives. You will define, plan, and implement deliverables that create groundbreaking improvements for both internal and external customers. A commitment to operational excellence is vital, as VPC services operate at large scale to support high availability systems for customers worldwide.

With access to a network of Principal, Senior Principal, and Distinguished Engineers across EC2 and AWS, you'll have numerous opportunities to expand your skills and knowledge.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Contribute as a key engineer on a small team, mentoring junior engineers, and ensuring adherence to best development practices.
  • Engage hands-on with the engineering team to oversee day-to-day development activities, lead architectural decisions, and participate in design and code reviews.
  • Stay updated with rapidly changing technologies and collaborate with management and teams to explore and integrate these advancements.
  • Communicate effectively with users, technical teams, and senior management to gather requirements, showcase product features, technical designs, and strategize product direction.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS :

  • 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 2 years of non-internship design or architecture experience for new and existing systems, focusing on design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language.
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • 3 years of experience in the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • Experience in professional software development (non-internship).
