Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity. As a Principal Technical Product Manager on the Project Kuiper team, you will create and drive the product strategy, vision, and technology roadmap for mobility products for aviation, including the customer terminal, aircraft cabin connectivity, power, and system software. This role focuses on integrating satellite connectivity with onboard systems to deliver seamless passenger experience and airline operations. This role is inherently cross-functional - you will work closely with engineering, design, operations, finance, and executive teams to envision, develop, and launch innovative aviation products and services. A successful candidate will be both creative and highly analytical, able to work extremely effectively in a matrix organization, and adept at synthesizing a variety of technologies and capabilities into products and applications that customers love. Key job responsibilities •Manage the entire product line life cycle from inception to launch •Understand and articulate customer needs, conduct on-going customer research, leverage internal knowledge and expertise, and prioritize feature requirements •Be a passionate advocate for the customer; provide the voice of the customer •Inspire the team with the product vision, and work cross-functionally to bring the product to life •Write detailed market and technical product requirements documents and define use cases, features, and KPIs and drive tradeoff discussions and decisions with the engineering development teams •Serve as the technical product expert for aviation assisting marketing with press briefing, industry talks, and whitepapers and participating with business development in product and service discussions with customers Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $161,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $279,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. - Masters/PhD in Wireless Communications Systems
- In-depth knowledge of aviation customer terminal product life cycle from prototype, assembly, certification, launch, and maintenance for linefit and retrofit across commercial, business jet, and government aircraft
- Experience working with aviation OEMs and airlines delivering complete aero solution for in-flight entertainment, on-wing support, repair/logistics, help desk, and software/network feature development / prioritization
