Utility Computing (UC)
AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.
Key job responsibilities
S3 Request Post-Processing is tasked with modernizing critical post-processing services, including Metering, Logging and Events, to meet the ever-changing needs of customers. As a Software Development Engineer on the S3 Request Post-processing Team your responsibilities encompass the development and enhancement of critical post-processing services, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality, highly available, and performant software solutions. You will collaborate closely with S3 API teams to facilitate efficient and seamless integration of the services. Ensuring the accuracy of metering for customer requests and data transfers is a crucial aspect of your role, as it directly impacts customer trust. You will code systems and services that allow rapid development to meet the fast-paced nature and interesting challenges that are at the heart of S3’s technology. Engineers on this team must have a deep knowledge of computer science, a solid foundation in software engineering practices, and a genuine desire to dive deep and learn.
About The Team
This role will sit in our new headquarters in Northern Virginia, where Amazon will invest $2.5 billion dollars, occupy 4 million square feet of energy efficient office space, and create at least 25,000 new full-time jobs. Our employees and the neighboring community will also benefit from the associated investments from the Commonwealth including infrastructure updates, public transportation improvements, and new access to Reagan National Airport.

Basic Qualifications
- 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2 years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- 3 years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
