Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a highly motivated Solutions Architect to help accelerate our growing U.S. Federal Civilian Government business.
This position will be based out of the Washington, DC metro area (DC/VA/MD), or Seattle, WA. The role will require 20%-30% domestic travel.
As a Solutions Architect within AWS, you will have the opportunity to help shape and deliver on a strategy to advance our customer’s mission through the use of AWS services (e.g. Amazon EC2, Amazon S3, Amazon RDS, HPC, etc.) You will accomplish this as part of a cross-functional team working together in support of the DOE mission.
The Solutions Architects on our team provide exceptional technical design and thought leadership to the Federal Civilian Government markets while working with a sales and business development team. They lead efforts to capture and share best-practice knowledge among the AWS solution architect community. You get to learn from, collaborate with, and educate some of the brightest technical minds in the industry today across the breadth of enterprise architecture!
This position requires that the candidate selected be a US Citizen and currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $204,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. - Defining implementation architectures, responding to RFPs, developing a deep expertise both in AWS technologies, as well as the customer mission space.
- Being a subject matter expert on security as it relates to customer applications and services.

Basic Qualifications
- 2 years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
- 4 years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience
- 6 years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience
- Bachelor's degree, or CASP (CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner) or CCSP (Certified Cloud Security Professional) or Cloud or CSSLP (Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional)
- Current, active US Government Security Clearance of Top Secret or above
- Experience working within software development or Internet-related industries
- Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud
- Experience working with AWS technologies from a dev/ops perspective
