AWS Fintech team is looking for a Systems Development Engineer to build automation for financial tooling that power global AWS business decision making. The success of these systems will fundamentally impact the profitability and financial reporting for AWS and Amazon.
This position will play an integral role in developing automation leveraging AWS data-lake technologies. AWS Fintech systems enable routine finance operations as well as machine learning, analytics, and GenAI reporting that enable AWS Finance to optimize profitability and free cash flow.
This position requires a proactive, highly organized individual with an aptitude for data-driven decision making, a deep curiosity for learning new systems, and collaborative skills to work with application, software, and data engineers as well and financial users.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $116,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $201,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Key job responsibilities
- Build tools and software solutions to automate orchestration of key business processes
- Define and build automation for system health monitoring, diagnostics, and system change management
- Participate in the design and execution of production acceptance tests
- Participate in an oncall rotation. Since financial users are primarily in North America, operation responsibility is primarily a day-time activity.
- 2 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 1 years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 7 years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems and hands-on systems engineering experience
- Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)
- Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C , C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby
- Experience with PowerShell (preferred), Python, Ruby, or Java
- Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology
