One Medical’s relationship with our patients is built on trust and our Medical Records team fosters this trust through one of the most vital parts of our health experience: access to medical information. The medical records specialist is responsible for timely and accurate processing of medical records requests from patients, their authorized representatives, providers, and others. The specialist also facilitates responses to patients’ rights requests pertaining to medical records as provided for by HIPAA and other federal and state privacy laws. In addition to responding to requests, the specialist performs a variety of administrative tasks related to health information in support of services provided by One Medical.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, possesses strong attention to detail, and can effectively manage deadlines. You enjoy contributing to a team and are comfortable with both receiving and providing feedback to others across organizational boundaries. Key job responsibilities
What you'll likely work on:
- Access and prepare medical records as needed for patients, patients’ authorized representatives, internal staff, and external groups
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical records and release of health information regulations (e.g., HIPAA) to ensure accurate processing
- Perform administrative duties including but not limited to: answering the phone, faxing and emailing confidential information, and basic computer utilization
- Provide excellent customer service to all internal and external
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 6 months prior experience executing medical records requests
- Deep understanding of HIPAA guidelines and associated privacy policies
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A high comfort level typing, navigating the internet and using multiple software systems
- Strong attention to detail and consistent follow-through on meeting goals and deadlines despite obstacles
