Key job responsibilities
We are looking for a Network Development Engineer who can build these sites leveraging the state-of-the-art next-generation networks, tools and systems. As we look to the future, our networks will support an ecosystem of robotics, IoT, sensors, drones, and mobile devices.

In this role you will build some of the largest fulfillment networks in the world. Robust Network infrastructures, information security and service availability are critical to Amazon operations, and your responsibilities include provisioning these infrastructures from the ground up. The NPA team has broad scope supporting multiple business units globally to build sites from the smallest delivery stations to the most advanced fulfillment centers on our planet.

About the team
Network Provisioning and Automation ‘NPA’ team consists of highly-skilled engineers who build all new Amazon fulfillment centers and transportation sites worldwide. These sites are used by hundreds of thousands of associates, relied upon by operators of industry-leading fulfillment and transportation systems, and play a critical role in the delivery of shipments to Amazon retail customers.

We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

Austin, TX, USA

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology
• 3 years experience in a network focused hands-on technical role working with IP routing protocols (interior and exterior), technologies and platforms in large scale data center, LAN and/or WAN network environments.
• 3 years experience developing engineering, deployment, or operations mechanisms to support IP network and/or networking systems.
• 3 years experience in a technical on-call capacity, responding to customer impacting events, mitigating and root cause analysis of those events.
• 1 years of experience in automation via Bash/shell scripting and Perl/Python programming, Infrastructure as Code, Ansible…
• Ability to work on a diverse team with a diverse range of coworkers

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Thorough understanding of TCP/IP networking, IP routing, Server Load Balancing, and Network Security architecture and core technologies such as IP, TCP, OSPF/IS-IS, BGP, MPLS, Server Load Balancers, Firewalls, ACLs, DNS, DHCP, IPAM, LDAP, NFS, etc.
• Experience with one or more of the following vendor platforms: Cisco, Juniper, Alcatel-Lucent, Arista, Brocade, Extreme, Citrix, F5, Fortinet, Palo Alto, etc.
• In-depth knowledge of and experience with networking and/or systems technologies.
• Knowledge of network hardware and packet forwarding architectures.
• Experience working in virtualized enterprise networking environments.
• Software development/programming.
• Must be comfortable working in a Linux/Unix environment.
• Detail oriented, excellent analytical skills, and a strong team player who works well with immediate and extended team, and consistently puts the team above oneself.
• Ability to work in and keep up with a fast moving environment via effective prioritization and time management.
