Amazon strives to be the Earth’s most customer-centric company, where people can find and discover virtually anything they want to buy online. One byproduct of that mission entails becoming one of the world’s largest collectors of online indirect taxes and fees – including US sales taxes, EU value-added taxes, and other global transaction taxes. The Tax Engine Business Team ensures that Amazon has the right technology and processes to calculate, collect and invoice those taxes accurately in a rapidly changing business and tax environment. Additionally the team also supports continued business growth and innovation by providing world-class services to millions of our customers and Selling Partners all over the world.

Amazon is looking for a Principal Product Manager-Technical to join its eCommerce Service's Indirect Tax Calculation – Tax Engine Business team. This team operates in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, striving to ensure Amazon's tax technology and processes are accurate and adaptable to a changing business landscape.

In this role, you will play a pivotal part in driving the development and success of our indirect tax calculation products. You will be responsible for providing technical product requirements documents, collaborating with software and business teams throughout the entire project lifecycle –from design-to-delivery, manage tax and testing related queries, and ensuring the delivery of high-impact solutions that meet customer needs and drive business growth. You will also be/become a subject matter expert in tax technology trends and challenges, leveraging this expertise to add value to our customers and differentiate our solutions in the marketplace. Future growth opportunities to take on different types of projects and programs over time are possible within the scope of this team.

Key job responsibilities
As a Principal Product Manager-Technical on the Tax Engine Business Testing Products team, you'll spearhead the development and enhancement of critical testing tools and frameworks for Amazon's global tax calculation systems. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the quality, reliability, and accuracy of these mission-critical regression testing components through advanced methodologies.
You'll lead initiatives to modernize and expand regression testing capabilities, including:

* Updating regression suites to leverage cutting-edge technical infrastructure
* Improving auditability, data sharing, and security of testing processes
* Creating scalable processes to efficiently backfill and maintain a growing library of automated test cases
* Defining and refining regression test coverage metrics and dashboarding

A key responsibility will be addressing testing challenges faced by the Tax Engine organization. This includes:

* Developing new intake processes and prioritization frameworks for testing tool enhancements
* Collaborating closely with engineering teams to implement high-impact testing features
* Establishing regular touch points with engineering to provide guidance on test implementation

You'll also drive overall testing process improvements, such as:

* Enhancing bug and issue management workflows specific to testing
* Serving as the primary point of contact for resolving test-related issues
* Ensuring TEA and TEB teams have visibility into testing metrics for informed decision-making

Your role will require extensive partnership with stakeholders in Product(TEB), Engineering(TEA), and Operations(TEB) to understand their testing needs and pain points. By delivering robust testing solutions, your work will directly impact the reliability of tax calculation systems, builder productivity, and Amazon's ability to innovate at scale while maintaining strict accuracy and compliance standards for Tax.
