Key job responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Lead architecture and design decisions for complex, cross-functional projects
- Drive technical excellence across multiple teams through mentorship and knowledge sharing
- Develop and implement pioneering solutions utilizing AI tools and cloud services
- Contribute to intellectual property development through patents
- Design and implement scalable systems using AWS services, CDK, Java, Python, and JavaScript
System Architecture & Innovation
- Architect sophisticated solutions that meet scalability, performance, and reliability requirements
- Translate complex product requirements into well-designed, maintainable systems
- Evaluate and prototype new technologies to determine technical feasibility
- Provide technical oversight for system interdependencies and limitations
- Drive innovation in delivery and service technologies
A day in the life
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers, QA, and business stakeholders
- Lead technical discussions and decision-making processes
- Work effectively in an Agile/Scrum environment
- Partner with Ring and other Amazon teams on cross-organizational initiatives
- Mentor and guide technical career development across teams
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 10 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- Knowledge of object-oriented design, data structures, and algorithms
- Extensive experience in distributed systems design and implementation
- Deep expertise in cloud architecture, preferably with AWS
- Strong programming skills in Java, Python, or JavaScript
- Proven track record of leading complex technical projects
- Experience mentoring and developing engineering talent
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellence in technical communication and documentation
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience designing and building large-scale systems in a multi-tiered, distributed environment (Service Oriented Architecture)
- Master's degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience with IoT devices and systems
- Track record of patent contributions
- Background in AI/ML technologies
- Previous experience with delivery or logistics systems
- Familiarity with Ring or similar consumer IoT platforms

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $180,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $311,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
