Blink is at the forefront of the consumer camera based home security market, and to continue this winning streak, we are seeking a mechanical engineer to join our Hardware Team. Come help us to design the next generations of Blink products that will drive our continued growth and delight our customers. For this job you will:
- Help us design consumer electronic products for the DIY home security camera market
- Work closely with the Industrial Design and EE teams to create the innovative solutions which let us build cost effective, high volume devices
- Interface with our partners and vendors from the early design phase to design in manufacturability and drive costs in the right direction
Key job responsibilities
- Design consumer electronic products, owning medium sized designs completely and working collaboratively on larger programs
- Integrate custom injection molded, stamped metal and off the shelf electro-mechanical components where appropriate
- Participate in and drive improving processes and methods to enhance productivity of the entire team
- Identify and investigate rapid prototype and production technologies
- Prototype and test solutions for product features or advanced development
- Design and validate components and systems that deliver an exceptional user experience
- Select materials and component technologies appropriate to program function and cost objectives
- Failure analysis and mitigating solution validation
- Operate as both a leader and team member in accomplishing group goals
A day in the life
In this role you will work closely with Product Marketing, Industrial Design and EEs to create innovative designs and solutions for cost effective, high volume devices. Collaborate with partners and vendors from the design phase to production ramp, using rapid prototyping systems to prove out concepts before working with manufacturers to tool for mass production. Show your expertise and inventiveness in mechanical systems design, combining the results with output from the electronics and SW teams. Select the right materials and components to bring your designs to life and apply your capabilities towards tackling challenges throughout the product life-cycle.
About the team
The Blink HW Dev team is responsible from concept to mass production for all hardware aspects of the devices that are sold under the Blink brand. We work closely with product marketing and program management to ensure that the final design is up to our high standards.
The team is made up of talented ME's, EE's and engineering support personnel, all dedicated to getting things done right, done fast and done economically.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience
- Experience with prototyping and implementation
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of SolidWorks simulation or Ansys Finite Element analysis tools
- Experience in the design of complex mechanical products and equipment at volume
