We are seeking highly motivated engineers who are focused on elevating Operational Excellence and automation. You will need to think big about strategic ideas to reduce your team's burden, and then work with your manager and team to implement those ideas and increase your team's ability and capacity to delight our customers.
This position requires that the candidate selected must currently possess and maintain an active TS/SCI security clearance with polygraph. The position further requires the candidate to opt into a commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.

Key job responsibilities
- Build, deploy and monitor AWS Non-Relational and Emerging Database Services (such as DynamoDB, ElastiCache, and Neptune) within Amazon Dedicate Cloud (ADC) regions.
- Design, deploy, monitor and automate infrastructure, tools and systems to provide a highly-available and resilient platform for our customers' and our team's workloads.
- This position involves on-call responsibilities, typically about 10 days a quarter supporting AWS services in our portfolio.
- Act as a technical lead and mentor for your team
A day in the life
On a "typical" day, our engineers may dive deep to find the root cause of a customer issue, investigate why a metric is trending in the wrong direction, launch a new service or feature, or discuss radical new approaches to automate operational processes. As a member of our team you will join a dedicated group of engineers who provide troubleshooting and operations support, and innovate to automate operational tasks.
About the team
We work normal business hours Monday through Friday at the downtown Denver office. We spend most of our time building and operating AWS database services for external customers. We focus on operational excellence and are always looking for new ways to be a better team.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Cloud or GICSP (Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional) or GSEC (GIAC Security Essentials) or SSCP (Systems Security Certified Practitioner), or Associate's degree
- 5 years of industry experience
- Current, active US Government Security Clearance of TS/SCI with Polygraph
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with System Design and Integration
- Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Experience with support procedures and methodologies for production computing environments
- Experience automating routine tasks
- Experience working with high-availability distributed systems
- Experience with Linux
- Experience with analysis and troubleshooting
- Working knowledge of agile methods
- Proficiency in Bash or Python

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $139,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $226,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
