Senior Applied Scientist, WW Ops Finance S&A

As a Sr Applied Scientist in WW Ops Finance Standardization & Automation (S&A) team, you will play a key role in transforming the way Operations Finance teams create and bridge financial plans, consume insights, identify root causes and prepare XBRs through a combination of Generative AI, Machine Learning and Economic models. We are looking for a Senior Applied Scientist to join our Applied Science team to work on AI solutions.

You will be responsible for the design, architecture, and implementation of AI/ML products and work in the intersection of Science, Product, and Engineering. You will push the boundaries of ML and Generative AI techniques to drive outcomes and transformation for our business with hundreds of billions of dollars of annual spend. Key job responsibilities

• Understand large complex use cases across the business and design scalable, efficient, automated model solutions
• Drive and lead strategic initiatives to employ the most recent advances in ML/AI in a fast-paced, experimental environment
• Collaborate with business, product and engineering stakeholders to innovate on behalf of customers leveraging data science methodologies, and partner with engineers and scientists to design, develop, and scale machine learning and AI models.
• Adapt statistical and machine learning methodologies for Ops Finance by developing and testing models, running computational experiments, and fine-tuning model parameters.
• Communicate verbally and in writing to business and internal stakeholders with various levels of technical knowledge, educate stakeholders on our research and data science practice, and deliver actionable insights and recommendations
• Develop code to analyze data (SQL, PySpark, Scala, etc.) and build statistical and machine learning models and algorithms (Python, R, Scala, etc.).
• Mentor and grow the scientists in the team
  
  

About The Team

WW Operations Finance Standardization and Automation (S&A) improves customer experience and business outcomes across Amazon Operations Finance through innovative technical solutions, standardization and automation of processes and use of latest technology.

Basic Qualifications

• 5 years of building Machine Learning, Generative AI, Natural Language Processing/Understanding, Reinforcement learning models for business application experience
• PhD in one of the following disciplines: Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Data Science, Applied Math, Operational Research or a related quantitative field
• Fluency in Python, SQL or similar scripting languages and skilled at Java, C , or other programing languages
• Experience with Machine Learning Pipeline orchestration with AWS (SageMaker, Batch, Lambda, Step Functions) or similar cloud-platforms
• Depth and breadth in state-of-the-art Generative AI and machine learning technologies
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals in one of those areas (natural language processing/understanding, deep learning, machine learning, or speech processing)
• Experience in Big Data Engineering with Spark / AWS EMR & Glue
• Experience with modeling tools such as R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, Tensorflow, numpy, scipy etc.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $150,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $260,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
