Project Kuiper is Amazon’s initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will deliver fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the globe. Our Customer Terminal (CT) antenna team is developing industry-defining phased array technologies to connect users to the Kuiper satellite network from virtually anywhere on Earth.
We are seeking a world-class technical and engineering leader to lead our Customer Terminal antenna team. This individual will be responsible for advancing the state-of-the-art in phased array antennas, overseeing innovation at the intersection of RF, antenna, ASIC, and communication systems. This is a rare opportunity to shape and lead one of the most advanced phased array development groups in the world, delivering products that are both technically revolutionary and massively scalable.
Key job responsibilities
As the Senior Manager of Customer Terminal Antenna Development, you will:
- Lead a multidisciplinary team of antenna engineers, RF experts, ASIC interface specialists, and system architects.
- Drive the end-to-end development of high-performance, low-cost electronically steerable antenna systems for LEO satellite communication.
- Ensure seamless integration between custom ASICs and antenna systems for optimal RF performance.
- Own phased array architecture, design, simulation, prototyping, test, and production integration.
- Influence and define system-level requirements in collaboration with the ASIC, software, systems, and product teams.
- Champion engineering excellence and innovation, setting a high bar for technical depth, quality, and delivery.
- Build a strong culture of ownership, where engineers are empowered to innovate and challenge assumptions.
- Represent the antenna team in cross-functional executive-level meetings and technical reviews.
- Serve as the technical voice of authority, providing expert guidance and mentorship to senior engineers.
- Partner with recruiting to attract top-tier talent and continue scaling the team.

A day in the life
- Reviewing antenna system metrics from the latest over-the-air performance tests.
- lead a deep-dive design review with RF and ASIC teams aligning on a new interface concept and future optimizations.
- meet with program leadership to assess development timelines.
- work directly with engineers to whiteboard a new architecture for a current and future array implementaion.
- develop new tools and tests systems to unblock engineering activities.
- look around corners to predict and get ahead of any engineering roadblocks.
- Review a hiring panel and feedback for future high performing candidates.
About the team
The Kuiper Antennas and CT team is developing the next generation of high-performance, low-cost antennas to bring global internet high speed internet to the unserved and underserved. The team is composed of world-class experts in phased array design, RF systems, hardware and software development, and custom ASIC integration. We work in a collaborative, fast-paced, and technically challenging environment, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible every day.
This role will lead one of the most ambitious and technically advanced antenna teams in the world, with the mission to deliver a transformational product to global customers.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related field with a focus in RF, electromagnetics, or communication systems.
- Experience in antenna, phased array, or RF system design.
- Experience leading high-performing engineering teams.
- Experience with developing and delivering complex phased array or antenna systems to production.
- Experience in understanding of antenna-ASIC interfaces and system-level integration challenges.
- Experience with Python, Matlab, HFSS/CST/FEKO
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- PhD in Electrical Engineering or Applied Physics.
- Experience with both planar and volumetric phased arrays, analog/digital beamforming, and non-standard array topologies.
- Experience in satellite communication system design and deployment.
- Hands-on experience with phased array calibration, characterization, and over-the-air validation.
- Expert in electromagnetic simulation tools (HFSS, CST, FEKO), system simulation tools (MATLAB, ADS), and lab test automation.
- Experience collaborating with ASIC teams, including front-end interface and control development.
- Core programming fundamentals in Python
- A reputation for technical excellence, leadership, and ownership in leading RF or space-based communication domains.
- Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to influence across organizations.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $161,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $279,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
