DESCRIPTION

Can you document and explain complex information clearly and concisely? The Technical Content Experience (TCX) group, also known as AWS Documentation, is looking for a technical writer to support Amazon AI and ML services. We are seeking a skilled technical writer to join our team working on the AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK) documentation. The AWS CDK is an open-source software development framework for defining cloud infrastructure as code using familiar programming languages. In this role, you'll collaborate with developers, product managers, and other technical writers to create and maintain high-quality documentation for the AWS CDK.

You have a strong interest in exploring emerging AI technologies to improve content development efficiency. Your work will directly impact developers' success in building and deploying cloud infrastructure using the AWS CDK..

Ideally, you have both a technical background that enables easy interaction with software developers and a demonstrated ability to deliver high-quality technical documentation. You will be part of a customer-obsessed, dynamic team of talented, geographically distributed, highly technical communicators. Key job responsibilities
- Author and deliver high-quality conceptual and procedural content, API reference documentation, and code examples
- Test documentation examples and code samples to ensure accuracy
- Work with multiple programming languages including TypeScript, Python, and JavaScript
- Managed Git-based and open source-based documentation workflows
- Develop, negotiate, and drive content strategy in alignment with product strategy and Amazon content guidelines
- Work with customer feedback, use website and content engagement data, and direct your analysis and insights into improving content performance and strategy
- Advocate for optimal customer experiences, dive deep to develop domain expertise, and function as the first customer for your products
- Work with other writers to improve how we write, hire and develop talent, and identify and drive opportunities to boost team efficiency

Utility Computing (UC)
AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations — from foundational services such as Amazon’s Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWS’s services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization, you’ll support the development and management of Compute, Database, Storage, Internet of Things (Iot), Platform, and Productivity Apps services in AWS, including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Degree or certification in a relevant technical field or equivalent experience
- A minimum of 5 years of experience designing and producing content for a technical audience that include data scientists or business consumers of AI technologies
- Experience using content publishing tools to write, format, manage, and publish technical content on the web
- Ability to read and write basic example code in one or more programming languages, such as Python, Java, JavaScript, Ruby, C#, or Go.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Background in machine learning or artificial intelligence
- Experience working with XML, markdown, or HTML
- Familiarity with using and following a style guide
- Experience designing, planning, and delivering content that meets the needs of a technical audience
- Experience working directly with teams of software engineers and product managers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $96,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $195,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
