The Kindle/Books Design and Research Studio seeks a talented, motivated Senior UX Program Manager to lead our customer insights and trust initiatives program. This role is critical in ensuring that our research practices are efficient, inclusive, and aligned with the highest standards of customer trust while enabling faster access to diverse customer feedback.
As Senior UX Research Program Manager, you will establish and manage a comprehensive panel of readers and authors that transforms how we conduct user research. You'll oversee the development of recruitment strategies, engagement protocols, and incentive structures that enable us to reach traditionally underrepresented customer segments. Working closely with cross-functional partners across the Studio and broader organization, you'll ensure our research and design practices meet rigorous standards for privacy, security, accessibility, and inclusion. You'll develop and implement quality control measures for inclusive research, creating clear heuristics and tracking mechanisms that help dozens of designers and researchers deliver experiences that improve the lives of millions of readers.
As a Senior UX Research Program Manager, you will be trusted to operate with a high degree of independence and ownership, including in areas where program strategy has not yet been defined. Your judgment will be informed by deep experience in research operations, panel management, and trust-focused initiatives. You will build and optimize processes that scale across multiple teams and research methodologies, while maintaining the highest standards for customer trust and inclusive practices.
You think systematically about process improvement and program scalability, consistently finding ways to enhance efficiency while maintaining quality. You are comfortable navigating ambiguity and adapting your approach to meet diverse stakeholder needs, while simultaneously driving for clarity and alignment across partners. Key job responsibilities
- Launch and scale a large customer insights community of readers and authors
- Develop and maintain participant recruitment strategies, engagement protocols, and incentive structures
- Monitor and optimize panel health metrics, demographic representation, and operational efficiency
- Create and implement measurements, heuristics, and best practices for inclusive research practices
- Serve as primary connector between the Studio and specialized partners for privacy, security, accessibility, and inclusion initiatives
- Guide teams in incorporating trust and inclusion best practices into design and research
- Track and report on program success metrics and identify areas for improvement
About the team
Our mission is to inspire readers by making it easy to read more and get more out of reading. In pursuit of this, our ~80 person global Studio provides the user research, UX design, and brand design for Kindle E-readers, Kindle apps for phones & tablets, Author & Publisher tools, and book shopping experiences used by millions of readers and thousands of authors around the world. We are looking for a passionate, design-focused, and customer-obsessed leader to join our team.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience.
- 6 years of successful experience as a UX Producer, UX Program Manager, or Research Program Manager
- Demonstrated experience building and managing user research panels of 30K participants
- Track record of successfully scaling panels to support multiple concurrent human-centered/behavioral user research initiatives
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior experience as a user researcher, research scientist, or research program manager.
- Experience managing both B2B and B2C user research panels
- Knowledge of various user research panel growth strategies (vendor partnerships, organic growth, intercepts)
- Experience recruiting and working with participants across diverse backgrounds and characteristics, including individuals who use assistive technologies, neurodiverse participants, and people representing various demographic, cultural, socioeconomic, and age groups.
- Experience supporting research operations for large distributed UX teams
- Experience with privacy compliance (e.g. GDPR, CCPA)
- Experience with survey tools, project management tools, remote collaboration tools, and/or customer relationship management (CRM) tools
- Ability to work effectively with tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously with minimal supervision

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $116,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $192,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
