Amazon is seeking a high judgment, well-organized, self-motivated, and creative digital communicator to create and manage news-focused social media.
The Global Social Media team, within Amazon’s communications org, oversees dozens of Amazon social accounts across the world on Instagram, Facebook, X, TikTok, and LinkedIn. This role is on the Seattle-based North America team, and will manage the new @AmazonUnpacked Instagram channel, which disseminates Amazon’s most high-profile news, gives a behind-the-scenes look at the company, and goes deep on priority narratives—all through social-friendly and entertaining creative. As a Social Media Manager, you’ll plan and execute engaging and informative social content, organic and paid, to strengthen Amazon’s corporate reputation by communicating our top business priorities and news moments. This involves collaborating with stakeholders on topics as diverse as retail, artificial intelligence, sustainability, entertainment, and many more – to drive impressions, engagements, and follower growth. At the same time, you’ll measure @AmazonUnpacked’s performance, set benchmarks, and continue optimizing it via data-driven recommendations.
This position is based in either Seattle, WA, or New York, NY.
As a successful candidate, you'll have a proven track record of rolling up your sleeves to strategize and execute bar-raising social content with an emphasis on news and on-camera storytelling. You should live and breathe social, meaning you’re familiar with the full spectrum of social formats (text-only, photos, short- and long-form video, animations, memes, etc.) and tactics (creators/influencers, partnerships, community management, issues management, etc.). You should also have an intimate understanding of the current digital/social media landscape, be a strategic thinker, goal oriented, and excel in a fast-paced, start-up culture. This is a role that requires both strong creative and analytical chops—on a team that works hard and has fun.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $72,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $155,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Key job responsibilities
- Content Ownership: Conceptualize and execute best-in-class social content – using a range of formats and tactics – that’s driven by customer obsession, audience insights, social trends, and the public environment.
- Content Strategy: Ensure Amazon’s social content supports business goals in a creative, socially native way.
- Social Series Development: Develop and execute content series across Amazon’s verticals and priorities (e.g., sustainability, devices, entertainment, AWS, etc.).
- Measurement and Evaluation: Collect, interpret, and report social data/analytics through native and third-party tools. Leverage that data as a flywheel to drive continual improvement of content against benchmarks.
- Platforms: Stay on top of the latest trends and developments across all social media platforms, while making sure content is tailored to the audiences and nuances of specific channels.
- Social tactics: Use influencers, partnerships, collaborations, and other tactics to drive business goals and content performance.
- Advice and Learning: Leverage expertise to help other teams and partners understand social’s role and impact; provide proactive and reactive counsel to internal stakeholders as needed.
- 3 years of professional non-internship marketing experience
- Experience working in large organizations with multiple teams and business lines.
- Experience with features, trends, and developments across platforms, including Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X, and LinkedIn.
- Experience with social media content management, scheduling, and listening software such as Sprinklr or Brandwatch.
- Experience using social analytics tools, leveraging data/insights to inform content development.
- Experience using design and video editing software, including CapCut, Canva, Adobe, and on-platform editing and creation tools.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Bachelors or equivalent
- Experience working in journalism.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as communications or journalism.
- Experience managing agencies.
