As a Software Development Engineer, do you want to help introduce new shopping experiences and build software services that are always available, and support millions of invocations per second with single digit latency?
Relationships Platform and Software Services are core to Amazon websites, mobile apps, Alexa, and physical stores serving millions of requests per second at single-digit millisecond latency. We provide accurate Related product sets to power product discovery and shopping experiences on Amazon.com. Our team owns highly available distributed micro-services, Machine-learning and rule-based validation systems, data stores containing billions of records, and software systems that make related product sets available across Amazon. Our team is in NYC.
We are looking for Software Development Engineers with at least 3 years of experience in distributed systems to join our team! As a Software Development Engineer (SDE-II), you will work on building new microservices and expanding our core software platform. This is an opportunity to work on high visibility initiatives across Amazon. You will work with several senior software development engineer and principal engineers regularly. We maintain a high bar for operational and software engineering excellence, which helps keep our operational load manageable. Our software development engineers are customer-focused and detail-oriented. We are a fun-loving team with a collaborative and supportive culture.
The ideal candidate will have distributed systems, high-scale software service design and implementation, and agile/continuous software delivery experience. You are a Software Development Engineer who enjoys owning software services, is customer-centric, and values delivering software with high quality.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2 years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3 years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
