Amazon Robotics is seeking a talented, collaborative, and motivated Software Development Manager to lead a team of engineers in delivering features which control and optimize robotic fulfillment centers used by amazon.com operations.
Key job responsibilities
As a manager within the Robotic Movement team, you will lead a team of diverse, collaborative engineers in designing and delivering highly available, highly scalable services and features within Amazon's robotic fulfillment centers. The team and your role directly impacts the speed at which Amazon's customers receive their packages. In the Robotic Movement team, you will interact with customers, understand business goals, and innovate rapidly to deliver high quality, high value features. You will have opportunities to collaborate with highly capable leaders, engineers, research scientists, applied scientists, and cross-functional teams on innovative automation solutions for Amazon Robotics’s ever-growing robotic fleet.

The Robotic Movement team's primary responsibility is to plan, allocate, and execute the tasks that our fleet of 750k robots perform while minimizing the amount of time it takes to get packages into our customers hands. Our team's software must maximize performance of robots while adapting to constantly changing conditions within a warehouse all while keeping the robots at healthy charge levels.

About The Team
The Robotic Movement team's primary responsibility is to plan, allocate, and execute the tasks that our fleet of 750k robots perform while minimizing the amount of time it takes to get packages into our customers hands. Our team's software must maximize performance of robots while adapting to constantly changing conditions within a warehouse all while keeping the robots at healthy charge levels.
Basic Qualifications
- 3 years of engineering team management experience
- 7 years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3 years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 5 years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
