Amazon is seeking an innovative Sr. Design Program Manager responsible for the implementation and customization of brand design standards as they translate into physical stores. This position collaborates with internal and external cross-functional teams to manage the execution of multiple end-to-end projects at any given time. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment and has a deep passion for innovative retail design. This is someone who possesses the ability to complete complex tasks and projects quickly with little to no guidance, react with appropriate urgency to situations that require a quick turnaround, take effective action without needing to know the total picture. We are looking for someone who is obsessed with creating world-class shopping experiences for our customers both at the micro and macro level. Outstanding project management and communication skills, both written and verbal are required.



Key job responsibilities
• Translates design standards to support the tech functionality and brand of our Third-Party partners in an innovative yet fiscally responsible way.
• Manages projects with high levels of complexity and ambiguity.
• Writes program documents that drive new innovations, outline testing/analysis to inform design decisions, or define standards and processes.
• Works with key internal and external stakeholders (including architecture firms) in the production of comprehensive design JWO enabled stores. Cross-functional teams include but not limited to Construction Engineering, Implementation Management, Launch, ICT, Product, Supply Chain, Business Development, and more. Cross-functional work fixture on boarding, equipment layout coordination and implementing technical requirements.
• Responsible for consulting with external customers during the Design Development and Construction Document phase for both new construction and renovation projects.
• The ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects requiring frequent communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills.
• Completes quality control and assurance checks on Revit Models for external customers.
• Provides Construction Administrative support working closely with construction project managers, architectural firms, and other external stakeholders during construction of store projects.
• Documents and disseminates information about key learnings and best practices to team members.
• Defines appropriate trade-down solutions driving alignment across stakeholders and creates documentation of these for implementation teams to leveraged across projects.
• Able to weigh short- and long-term cost considerations to suggest alternative design approaches based on industry standards, sustainability, knowledge of color, material, finish, operational, maintenance and procurement capabilities.
• Demonstrates flexibility and adaptable to changing work environment, effectively dealing with varying workload requirements; can shift gears comfortably, manages competing demands, delays or unexpected events

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience understanding needs of business and end customers and translating them into right solutions
- Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) Bachelor’s degree (BA/BS) in architecture
- 10 years of experience in Architecture or Retail Design
- Experience in: Architecture / Retail Design; Design Development, Construction / Permit Documentation
- Advanced Beginner to Intermediate Revit skills required.
- Advanced Beginner to Intermediate Smartsheet Skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of industry trends, building/health codes, 3D visualization, and color/design principles
- Demonstrated ability to communicate design vision in visual, written, and verbal formats
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in an extremely fast paced, ambiguous environment
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects requiring frequent communication, time management, and problem-solving skills
- Proven track record of owning project from start to finish – self-starter and self-directed
- Proactive and flexible attitude; willingness to take an “all hands on deck” approach

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience working and contributing to project playbooks, building schedules, managing issues/risks, establishing communication plans and stakeholder management
- Knowledge of current AEC trends and practices preferred
- Retail design strongly preferred
- Proven ability to deliver a bold vision and iterate quickly on concepts
- Passion for learning and innovation, balanced with business needs and customer expectations
- InDesign and Photoshop, Smartsheet, Bluebeam, Box

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $116,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $192,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
