Be a part of the next exciting phase of Amazon’s transportation technology and business growth. Amazon Freight is building the next-generation of shipping services on top of our core transportation network. This role is responsible for leading technology development for end-to-end shipper-facing features and experience. It includes providing the best-in-industry features for quoting, booking, scheduling and managing shipment orders for our shipper customers.
This Senior SDM will lead several tech teams that span front-end customer-facing UX, internal tools, and integration services. It involves working closely with product, marketing, sales, and operations teams to drive impact for our customers and build the future of freight
Key job responsibilities
- Lead and own the tech for key product strategies and deliver high quality software systems
- Lead and mentor high-performing team of software managers and engineers and develop mechanisms that result in a high-performance software organization
- Own and deliver on ambitious and creative roadmap aligned to drive customer and business impact
- Deliver on cost and efficiency goals, managing efforts, communicating status and managing stakeholder expectations.
- Ensure operational excellence and efficiency of our tech systems
- Lead agile engineering teams to coordinate, prioritize and deliver to a roadmap
- Communicate effectively on product and technical roadmaps
A day in the life
You will lead a team of software managers and engineers to deliver high-impact projects for our customers. You will work with product managers, executive leaders, science and operations stakeholders to coordinate launches, drive process improvement, generate ideas, and deliver results You will work alongside the product team to refine our understanding of unique large-customer requirements, provide guidance on the our solution set and work creatively with your teams to design solutions. You’ll work in a fast-paced environment and will be required to lead not only at the strategic level, but also tactically day-to-day by diving deeply into business and technical domains.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 10 years of engineering experience
- 5 years of engineering team management experience
- 10 years of planning, designing, developing and delivering consumer software experience
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
- Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects and development teams in an Agile environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience partnering with product and program management teams
- Experience designing and developing large scale, high-traffic applications
