Amazon Air (AIR) is seeking a Senior Strategic Program Manager (PM) to redefine the standards for the customer experience in our worldwide transportation network by identifying, developing, and integrating innovative solutions and programs that lead to improvements. Amazon transportation encompasses all of the operations that deliver shipments from our fulfillment centers and third party locations to customers worldwide. An AIR Sr. Strategic PM will be responsible for the effective design of Amazon’s aviation transportation network. Through data analysis, modeling, collaboration with internal stakeholders, and industry research our Sr. PM will contribute to the design of an optimal AIR transportation network, maximizing asset utilization. Our Sr. PMs have a passion for designing innovative aviation solutions that continually improve the experiences of our customers and drive down total cost within the transportation network.
Key job responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and measure network wide changes.
- Write narrative reports to gain leadership buy in
- Manage projects from end to end
- Deliver results within tight timelines
- Work directly with internal customers/partners, identifying required network capacity and constraints
- Collect and interpret operating cost data
- Assist in reviewing proposals for new equipment and services
- Analyze and recommend optimal network solutions for peak and non-peak periods
- Pull and report data from numerous databases (using Excel, Python, SQL and/or other data management systems) and to perform ad hoc reporting and analysis as required
- Participate in long term planning and modeling sessions
- Work with cross functional stakeholders to prioritize work streams
- Communicate with all project owners
- Develop mathematical models to support recommendations
- Create reports and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) integrated into daily, weekly, monthly reviews
- Research ambiguous areas or spaces that may or may not have positive outcomes
- Provide support and leadership to field based Industrial Engineers or Process Engineers
- Generate subject matter expertise in areas such as: flight scheduling, linehaul scheduling, simulation, AI, material handling, or process engineering
- Engage with partner teams including: Safety, Finance, Aviation Security, Network Planning, Operations, Vendor Management, Airport Affairs
- Travel domestically 25% of the time
About the team
The program management team will support across both AIR managed and Vendor Managed operations. The team will develop their own ideas, as well as leverage a Process Engineering/Operations driven backlog of projects and programs. This program management team is an extension of the AIR process engineering organization.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 years of program or project management experience
- Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
- Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
- Experience preparing, reporting and interpreting large sets of data
- Knowledge of Excel at an advanced level
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, analytics, mathematics, statistics, or IT, or Bachelor's degree in any field with 5 years of experience in a technical role
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 2 years of driving process improvements experience
- Master's degree, or MBA in BI, finance, engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics, finance or equivalent quantitative field
- Experience in the aviation industry
- Experience with SQL, Python, QuickSight, or Tableau

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $104,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
