We are looking for an experienced and motivated UX Researcher to join our research team, and raise the bar on how we gather and apply customer insights at Amazon. If you are passionate about developing and applying research methods to answer challenging questions, enjoy collaborating closely with a diverse set of highly skilled cross-functional partners, and like seeing your efforts translated into real world impact, we want you on our team. Amazon Payment Products (APP) serves tens of millions of customers worldwide through a global portfolio of products, delighting them with best-in-class rewards, easy access to credit as well as the simplicity to sell or buy cross-border on Amazon in their local currency. The global portfolio of products APP negotiates, builds, and manages includes Co-branded Credit Cards (CBCC), Private Label Credit Cards (PLCC), Shop with Points (SWP), Installments (GIL), and Amazon Currency Converter (ACC) for Sellers and buyers, and more.

Key job responsibilities

  • Drive end-to-end UX research initiatives—foundational, tactical, and strategic—utilizing a blend of qualitative and quantitative methods, including usability testing, user interviews, surveys, and advanced analytics to inform design decisions.
  • Build strong partnerships with design, product, marketing, and engineering teams to identify user needs, advocate for user-centered solutions, and effectively translate key business questions into actionable research plans.
  • Analyze data and synthesize findings to present actionable insights that strengthen value propositions, uncover growth opportunities, and significantly enhance user experience across various teams and product lines.
  • Promote best practices in UX research while continuously exploring and integrating innovative methodologies to elevate team standards, drive meaningful outcomes, and foster a culture of user-centricity.
  • Effectively prioritize and manage multiple research projects in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, balancing competing stakeholder needs while maintaining a clear focus on delivering high-impact research that influences product direction.

A day in the life

As a key member of the Amazon Payment Products Research team, you will closely collaborate with stakeholders throughout the research planning process. They will rely on your expertise to identify the most suitable research methods—be it qualitative or quantitative—tailored to address specific research questions, timelines, and resource constraints.

In partnership with our design teams, you will define requirements for new stimuli or prototypes essential for the research. Each day may involve a diverse range of activities, including conducting user interviews, analyzing qualitative data, overseeing vendor-supported projects, and synthesizing research findings into impactful reports for stakeholders.

About The Team

The NA PP Research team is a small but nimble team with a vision to raise the bar on customer obsession in Amazon Payments by influencing Payment Product initiatives with insights about customer needs, preferences, and attitudes. As the team’s UX researcher, your contributions will play a pivotal role in shaping the user experience of Amazon's payment products.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Cognitive Science, Sociology, Human Factors, or a related field.
  • 3 years of UX research experience across various stages of the development lifecycle.

  • Proven experience managing research vendors effectively.
  • Strong ability to prioritize projects and manage multiple stakeholder relationships independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the capability to convey research findings to executive leaders and diverse audiences, both technical and non-technical.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficient in survey design
  • Experience moderating usability studies, both one-on-one and in group settings.
  • Familiarity with tools for remote and in-person usability testing (e.g., UserZoom, UserTesting.com, Maze, Optimal Workshop).
  • Basic understanding of prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.
  • Experience conducting UX research specifically for financial products.
