Job description
- Non-Certified starting rate of pay is $36,500.
- Certified starting rate of pay is $53,500.
Major Job Goals:
The teachers will be the classroom instructional leaders of Ambassadors Preparatory Academy (APA) and as such shall be held responsible for the achievement and academic excellence of each student. APA teachers will be able to engage in a variety of instructional strategies and provide rigorous and unique classroom learning experiences that will promote high expectations to ensure all students meet the performance objectives established by APA and state-mandated STAAR and TEKS.
The APA teachers shall assume duties and responsibilities as they relate to the following:
Instructional Management
Student Discipline Management
Facilities/Classroom Management
Professional Relations
Academic Excellence Indicators and Campus Performance Objectives
The APA teachers will report to the Superintendent/Principal and Academic Advisor/Testing Coordinator
Qualifications:
Education
- Follow state certification requirements for charter schools.
- Bachelor’s Degree required from an accredited college or university
Experience
- A minimum of one-year of classroom experience in a public or private school setting
preferred.
Special Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- To be responsible for providing instruction in content areas in which each assigned student can grow emotionally, socially, intellectually, and physically according to his or her basic needs, ability level, and maturity.
- To develop lesson plans and instructional materials as part of planned learning experiences to motivate pupils.
- To provide appropriate instruction and activities for students to meet school policies, goals, and objectives.
- To evaluate academic and social growth of students and keep appropriate records.
- To create, with assistance from pupils, a functional and attractive environment for learning through displays, bulletin boards, and learning centers and assumes responsibility for proper care and use of physical environment.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing
- Be a positive role model for students
- Support the mission and vision of the school
- Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required
- To establish and maintain standards of student control required to achieve effective participation in all activities.
- To collaborate with colleagues in order to establish the proper climate for a wholesome learning environment.
- To identify student needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude, and learning problems.
- To communicate with parents/guardians and the community through a variety of media.
- To communicate with parents/guardians regarding the progress of children in all areas of school life: cognitive, affective, and psychomotor.
- To communicate information about the educational program to parents/guardians and other community members through personal conferences, meetings, and other various media.
- To maintain professional competence through ongoing professional development, in-service education activities provided by the school or other entities, and/or professional growth activities and university courses
