Job Summary for RN Labor & Delivery (L&D)

The Registered Nurse (RN) in Labor & Delivery (L&D) provides high-quality care to women throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery. This role involves monitoring the health of both mother and baby, assisting with labor progression, and providing emotional and physical support during childbirth. The RN in L&D works collaboratively with obstetricians, midwives, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a safe and positive birth experience. The RN is responsible for assessing and managing both routine and complex cases, offering guidance to families, and responding to emergencies in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct thorough assessments of the mother and fetus, including vital signs, uterine contractions, and fetal heart rate monitoring.
• Perform physical assessments to evaluate the progress of labor, potential complications, and overall health status.
• Provide continuous monitoring of patients during labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period.
• Provide emotional and psychological support to patients and families during labor and delivery.
• Coordinate with obstetricians or midwives to ensure optimal delivery plans and interventions.
