JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Hybrid
Position Overview: The Project Designer of Construction plays a key role in overseeing the construction phase of projects, ensuring that design specifications are met and executed seamlessly. This role works closely with the design and construction teams to support the delivery of projects on time, within budget, and in alignment with the firm’s design standards. The Project Designer collaborates with vendors, contractors, and cross-functional teams to monitor progress and quality while assisting in problem-solving throughout construction.
Key Responsibilities:
Construction Support:
- Assist in managing construction activities, ensuring alignment with the design vision.
- Work with the Technical Department to review and update drawings as the project progresses.
- Assist in supervising contractors and subcontractors, ensuring they adhere to design specifications and timelines.
- Support monitoring construction progress and addressing potential issues with creative, timely solutions.
- Regularly update the Senior Designer(s) on project progress and any construction-related concerns.
- Assist in preparing presentations related to materials, plumbing, appliances, and millwork.
Design & Selections:
- Collaborate with the design team to assist in selecting and specifying project finishes, including flooring, wall treatments, fixtures, and hardware.
- Ensure that selected finishes align with the overall design vision and project requirements.
- Coordinate with the Technical Department to update Finish Schedules and Legends throughout the project.
Vendor Coordination:
- Work with the Procurement Team to support relationships with vendors and subcontractors, ensuring timely delivery of materials and finishes.
- Assist in resolving vendor-related issues that may arise during the construction process.
- Work with the Procurement Team to ensure all purchased items are properly integrated into the project schedule.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Interior Design, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in construction or a similar role, with exposure to design and project management.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to all stakeholders.
- Knowledge of construction processes, building codes, and design specifications.
- Proficiency in relevant design software, construction management software, and design tools.
- Ability to work collaboratively with design, technical, and vendor teams.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as needed and capable of assisting with on-site installations.
Salary : $75,000 - $90,000
