JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Dietary Cook is a key member of the dietary team. The Cook will work under the direction of the Supervisor of Food Prep and under the direction of the Director of Nutrition and Food Service. The Cook position will be responsible for providing high quality food and excellent customer service to best meet the needs of our patients and staff.
Duties may include but are not limited to:
- Prepare therapeutic and modified diets for patients as well as preparing meals for employees, visitors and special functions.
- Ensure food is properly cooked by taking and recording temperatures, tasting, following recipes, etc.
- Use a variety of kitchen equipment and utensils such as blenders, mixer, slicers.
- Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly cooking area.
- Flexible to participate in a variety of kitchen duties such as cleaning dishes, taking patient orders, etc.
- Prep items for future meals by reviewing planned menu.
- Able to work as a member of a team and also independently.
- Understand and follow safe food practices.
- Work with the facility’s dietitian as necessary and implement recommended changes as required.
- Ensure that all dietary procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.

- Experience:
- Minimum Required Experience: Experience in food preparation and/or customer service.
- Preferred Experience: Healthcare dietary experience with understanding of food allergies and modified diets.
