Description
The ED / Hospitalist APP is a key member of the inpatient and outpatient care team. The APP will be responsible for the 20-bed inpatient acute medical unit as well as the 6-bed emergency department. This position offers excellent variety as the APP will care for a variety of patients including patient presenting to the emergency department, admitted hospital patients (ICU, stepdown, telemetry observation and skilled nursing), outpatients presenting for schedule procedures (lumbar punctures, thoracentesis and paracentesis), cardiology patients presenting for nuclear treadmills as well as being a resource for other hospital departments when they have acutely ill or critical patients. The APP will work with a multidisciplinary team that includes case management, pharmacy, social work, dietician, therapy, and nursing staff. The APP will care for patients on the inpatient side. They will also provide care for emergency department patients as well as responding to all rapid responses, all emergency C-sections, perform outpatient procedures as scheduled (nuclear stress tests, lumbar punctures, thoracentesis and paracentesis) as well as performing history and physicals on non-established infusion clinic patients. This position also networks with other hospitals and departments to provide the best overall consultations for our patients.
Duties may include but are not limited to:

Able to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team and independently.

Provide excellent patient care and recommendations for treatment plans for our patients.

Update patient information and charts with the current findings and treatment recommendations.

Completion of all documentation as required in the Medical Staff Rules and Regulations and Medical Staff Bylaws.

Order tests for healthcare staff to administer, review and interpret test findings.

Respond to questions and concerns from patients about their health care and well-being health.

Discuss proper nutrition, hygiene, and self-care with patients to promote good health.

Understand and follow safe work practices.

Ensure that all Amberwell procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.

Work a flexible schedule.
Qualifications
Experience:
-
Minimum Required Experience: 2 years of Hospitalist or acute care experience.

Preferred Experience: 3 years of Hospitalist experience.
Education:
-
Minimum Required Education: Master of Science in Nursing –NP or Physician Assistant
Preferred Education: Doctorate in Nursing Practice
Licenses:

Minimum Required Licenses: Active Kansas APRN or PA License and DEA license

Preferred Licenses: N/A
Certifications:

Minimum Required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, ATLS, NRP
