JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Supervisor of Housekeeping manages all tasks associated with housekeeping, staffing schedules, cleaning routes, & cleanliness throughout the hospital. Provide guidance to staff on proper techniques of cleaning, proper use of cleaning supplies, managing areas with walkthroughs, and the stocking of all hygiene supplies where needed. Maintain positive relationship with employees while maintaining accountability of responsibilities.
- Scheduling and ensuring staff complete their scheduled shifts
- Rounding through the hospital to ensure areas are being cleaned appropriately and timely. Some areas of the hospital may require special cleaning requirements, such as clinical areas.
- Stepping in to cover gaps in the schedule and cleaning when necessary
- This position is expected to be a working supervisor, assisting to clean when needed
Duties may include but are not limited to:
Understand and apply policies and procedures for both Housekeeping and Laundry. |
Act as a reliable daily resource for housekeeping and laundry personnel, assisting them with difficult or unusual issues. |
Track supply room inventory, and order inventory as needed. |
Develop and manage the staffing and scheduling of the department to maintain efficient and effective staffing |
Assist with Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement initiatives. |
Work with the Facilities Director to take responsibility to resolve complaints and make decisions to continue efficient housekeeping and laundry operations. |
Assist with filling last minute staffing changes and flexes schedule appropriately. |
Assist with producing and updating housekeeping/laundry policies and procedures. |
Assist Facilities Manager with other projects as requested. |
Housekeeper |
Clean and supply work cart daily |
Report unusual findings to the Supervisor |
Report items needing repair to the Supervisor. |
Ergonomic use of cleaning and other supplies. |
Mix germicide solutions according to the formula. |
Perform a variety of duties and/or related duties |
Work on week-ends, holidays and/or other shifts. Be interchangeable. |
Be dependable, willing to work under supervision, patient and tactful in dealing with others, initiative, good judgment and realization that errors or unacceptable work may have effect on the patient as well as the hospital |
Respond to pager system. |
Utilizes supplies and equipment efficiently and cost effectively. |
Clean and re-make a neat patient bed. |
Dry and wet mop floors. |
Ability to operate electrical equipment such as vacuums, stripper-scrubber, buffer and carpet extractor. |
Properly dispose of all trash, including bio trash. |
Other duties as assigned. |

- Experience:
- Minimum Required Experience: 1-3 yrs of Experience in Environmental services.
- Preferred Experience: 1-3 yrs Supervisory experience
- Education:
- Minimum Required Education: High School or GED equivalent
