Amberwoods is a 130-bed newly renovated, progressive facility providing long-term skilled nursing, short-term rehabilitation and Memory Care services, located in Farmington, CT. Our facility is conveniently located within proximity to I-84 and is a ten-minute drive to downtown Hartford.
The role of the Director of Staff Development is critical to the success of our employees. This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate with the ability to engage and inspire our employees to excel in providing safe and effective quality care. Candidate must be a licensed Registered Nurse in the State of Connecticut with previous experience in the provision of educational guidance and clinical support in a health care setting.
Responsibilities
- Conduct general orientation and mandatory in-service programs in accordance with regulatory requirements
- Provide continuing education to help employees identify strategies that can improve critical thinking, interpersonal and technical skills
- Perform competency skills to assess safety training in the workplace
- Evaluate competencies and determine what training, support and resources are necessary for individual success
- Determine and assess facility educational needs
- Evaluate and monitor transition from orientation to ensure quality resident care in conjunction with the facility’s philosophy and core objectives
- Assist and coach employees through knowledge, skill and encouragement
- Apply strategies and teaching modules that foster critical thinking and facilitate a team approach to resident care
- Communicate areas of concern with the Administrator/DNS
- Create optimal employee relations necessary to motivate, recruit and maintain staff retention levels
Qualifications
- Current State of Connecticut Registered Nurse License
- Proficient knowledge of CMS and state regulations in order to promote best practices in education and training
- 2 years of clinical managerial nursing experience
- Ability to effectively communicate with nursing personnel in a health care setting
- Excellent computer skills, including experience with EMR's
- Highly effective as a team leader and motivator
- Detail-oriented with solid organizational skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, when necessary
- Ability to communicate effectively with both a diverse clientele and workforce through sound business decisions, diplomacy and discretion
