Job Description:
As an Outside Sales Engineer, you will be responsible for driving business growth and building strong relationships with customers, contractors, and engineering firms in the Pacific Northwest. Utilizing your HVAC product knowledge and applications expertise, you will identify and develop new business opportunities, manage sales processes, and ensure quality customer support. This position plays a critical role in achieving annual sales targets while contributing to the long-term development of the region’s business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Development: Identify and develop opportunities with new and existing customers by leveraging HVAC product knowledge and applications expertise.
- Sales Growth: Drive annual sales growth in the Northwest and secure long-term business development.
- Customer Relationships: Call on and build strong relationships with contractors, engineering firms, architectural firms, and end-users.
- Technical Expertise: Provide technical expertise and guidance on system design, product selection, and specification writing.
- Sales Process Management: Initiate sales processes, pre-qualify customers, and guide projects through order fulfillment.
- Proposal Preparation: Prepare detailed sales proposals, estimates, and take-offs to address customer needs.
- Project Management: Manage projects from the design phase through commissioning, ensuring quality at every stage.
- Pre-Sale and Post-Sale Support: Maintain high standards of customer support, from initial consultation to order fulfillment and beyond.
- Liaison Role: Act as a bridge between branch office staff and customers or partners to ensure smooth communication and workflow.
- Feasibility Analysis: Process and analyze feasibility assessments and bid documents for potential projects.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (preferred) or equivalent industry experience.
Experience:
- 3 years of direct selling, marketing, or designing HVAC products to mechanical contractors or design engineers.
- Proven track record in business development and relationship management within the HVAC industry.
Skills:
- Strong sales and marketing abilities to strategically present HVAC solutions.
- In-depth technical knowledge of HVAC products and their applications.
- Proficiency in managing projects at various stages of development.
- Exceptional customer relationship and communication skills.
- Problem-solving skills to creatively resolve issues related to application, delivery, billing, and job sites.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows software for selection, pricing, quoting, submittals, and communication.
- Ability to multitask and manage stress effectively.
