What are the responsibilities and job description for the Activities Director position at Ambleside Inc?
Ambleside, Inc. is a provider of Residential and Day Support services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and Autism. We have been providing services throughout North Carolina since 1991. We currently serve over 25 members in our Residential and HCBS programs. We work diligently, daily, to ensure that our members are not just maintaining their quality of life, but increasing their quality of life.
We are in search of an Activities Director who will help us achieve this mission. The Activities Director will be responsible for the following
1) Develop a relationship with the members in our program, and obtain a working knowledge of their current skill levels, preferences, and favored community destinations
2) Develop weekly “Day Program” schedules for each individual, implementing routine, structure, and consistency
3) Implementing structured activities within the day program to ensure that members are having meaningful days
4) Planning monthly events, to include (but are not limited to); cookouts, birthday celebrations, events involving external stakeholders, field days, field trips, etc.
5) Work with External Stakeholders to ensure that members served are active participants of the community-at-large
6) Participate in the “Weekend Activities Committee,” ensuring that our members have meaningful and activity packed weekends
7) Identify external stakeholder that can come in and be a part of our program (i.e. art teachers, yoga teachers, etc.)
8) Develop and publish monthly newsletters to educate external stakeholders of Ambleside, Inc. activities.
This is a new position for our agency, and we are hoping to find someone who is creative, driven, wants to be successful, and wants to build this position and make it yours. You will be an active member of the clinical team and the administrative team, and work with many other departments to facilitate our agency’s mission.
Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or Therapeutic Recreation Preferred
Experience with the IDD or Autistic Community Required
