Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Paralegal to join our Santa Barbara office. This in-office position plays a critical role in supporting attorneys by preparing legal documents, conducting research, and managing casework. The ideal candidate will have a background in estate planning, tax law, or a related legal field and a demonstrated ability to manage tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Draft and prepare estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, and powers of attorney.
Conduct legal research and analysis on estate planning, tax law, and succession matters.
Assist in preparing and filing court documents and tax forms.
Organize and maintain client files, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with legal standards.
Coordinate with attorneys and clients to gather necessary documentation and provide updates.
Review and summarize legal documents for attorney review.
Track deadlines and assist with case management to ensure timely execution of deliverables.
Liaise with financial institutions, accountants, and other professionals to facilitate client needs.

Qualifications

Education : Associate’s degree or higher in Paralegal Studies or a Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program.

Experience : Minimum of 3 years of experience as a paralegal, preferably in estate planning, tax law, or probate.

Strong knowledge of legal terminology, procedures, and documentation.

Proficiency in legal research tools (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis) and legal document preparation.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.

Ability to work collaboratively in an in-office team environment.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal case management software.

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with California estate and tax laws.

Experience in trust administration or probate proceedings.

Knowledge of tax compliance and filing requirements related to estate planning.
