Compensation: $104,000-$115,000 per year. You are eligible to a Short-Term Incentive Plan with the target at 5% of your annual earnings, terms and conditions apply.
Scientist I– Hybrid, Aliso Viejo, CA (Must be local)
This position is responsible for planning, initiating, executing and managing translational research projects. The Scientist I will review relevant literature, research data, new technologies and conduct experiments to elucidate the association of genetic/genomic variation with cancer predisposition. This role involves active collaboration with internal stakeholders (clinical research, variant assessment, bioinformatics, product and assay development etc..) as well as external collaborators.

Scientist I– Hybrid, Aliso Viejo, CA (Must be local)
This position is responsible for planning, initiating, executing and managing translational research projects. Essential Functions
- Initiate, conduct and manage experiments and translational research projects, as assigned
- Collaborate internally with other departments and stakeholders to advance and finalize approved research projects, and to explore new ideas for translational research
- Conduct proof of concept experiments using new emerging sequencing technologies, perform data analyses and create summaries. Document results, data and conclusions in an organized manner
- Work with external KOLs and collaborators on joint research projects
- Prepare and present detailed presentations, posters and manuscripts for publication
- Assist in the troubleshooting of problems in the laboratory. Devise solutions to overcome technical issues based on experimentation and data
- Research and assess new technologies, software, and reagents/chemistries to be leveraged in translational research and assay development
- Coordinate projects with R&D team members and employees from other departments. Contribute to the training and transfer of know-how to other team members
- Other duties as assigned
- PhD in molecular biology, biomedical sciences or a related field with 1 years of postdoctoral research experience. Candidates with a Master’s degree in a relevant field with exceptional experience are also encouraged to apply
- Background in cancer biology, oncology, molecular genetics, or genomics
- Demonstrated track record in cancer research as proven with first author publications in peer-reviewed journals
- Proficient with a broad range of standard molecular biology techniques, such as PCR, qPCR, RT-PCR, nucleic acid isolation, molecular cloning, NGS library construction, etc., including the output of those techniques and the analysis and interpretation of the results
- Hands-on experience generating and analyzing large complex datasets, such as those obtained from high throughput functional genomics screens and NGS experiments
- Hands-on experience with Long-Read Sequencing (PacBio/ONT) library preparation and/or data analysis will be positively valued
- Desire to work both independently and as part of focused or multi-disciplinary teams
- Hands-on experience designing both hypothesis and data driven experiments
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to speak effectively one-on-one and in group settings with clients, vendors, and employees of the organization. Ability to communicate complex information clearly, effectively, and accurately
- Strong computer skills and familiarity with bioinformatic workflows.
- Programming experience and/or use of Ph.D.: 5 years research experience in an academic setting and 0 years industry experience.
- M.S.: 3 years research experience in an academic setting and 7 years industry experience.
- Background in medical genetics will be positively valued
