Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our surgical team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in perioperative nursing and be committed to providing high-quality patient care. The surgery center has one OR and two PACU bays. This role requires proficiency in various stages of the surgical experience and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Surgery days start at 0630 am and typically last 6-10 hours. On-site parking is free.

Duties

• Prepare patients for surgery by conducting pre-operative assessments and ensuring all necessary documentation is complete. Starting IV before procedure.
• Assist surgical team during the procedure. Assuring safe patient positioning on operating table. Passing local anesthetic medications and surgical instruments to surgeon and surgical tech.
• Independently monitor patients' vital signs and airway during recovery process. Administer pain and nausea medications as needed. Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding post-operative care and recovery process.
• Understand sterile environments to prevent infections, adhering to all safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Current Maryland, or compact, Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
• Surgical PACU experience is a must. Circulating experience is preferred.
• Current BLS and ACLS.
• IV skills
• Must be able to address non-emergent patient needs independently (pain, nausea, vomiting)
• Must be comfortable monitoring the airway of a sedated patient.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and surgical team members.

Pay: From $45.00 per hour

Expected hours: 4 – 40 per week
