Position overview

The Production Planner is responsible for overseeing and managing the overall scheduling process within the organization. They coordinate and optimize resources, timelines, and project schedules to ensure efficient and timely completion of production tasks. The Production Planner collaborates with various departments and stakeholders to gather project/production requirements, evaluate priorities, and allocate resources accordingly. They utilize scheduling tools and software to create and maintain detailed production schedules. Additionally, the Production Planner monitors production progress, identifies potential risks or delays, and proposes solutions to mitigate any disruptions, ensuring production stays on track and meets established deadlines.

Reporting to the Production Control Manager, the Production Planner will work closely with the management team and operations teams to strive for the highest possible level of support and professionalism. Other important duties include entering customer orders and communicating directly with customer about their orders, making suggestions for process improvement, and scheduling raw material for delivery.

Responsibilities:

· Create a rolling 3, 6, and 12-month Master Production Plan. Utilize the production capacity, taking into consideration the sales forecast, historical sales, and new business requirements.

· Implement and drive Master Production Scheduling (MPS) to ensure a level production plan and protect against customer fluctuations in demand.

· Monitor, coordinate and manage Start of Production (SOP) and End of Production (EOP) for current and new customers.

· Manage and coordinate with Plant Team to develop a recovery plan to address variations in customer demand.

· Coordinate and confirm raw material, components, WIP assemblies are available to support production plan to avoid impact to operations.

· Analyze and identify risks associated with the Production Plan, including manufacturing lead times, material availability, logistics, equipment, etc.

· The weekly / monthly Production Schedule will be updated and distributed to the Plant Team on a regular basis.

· Perform supply demand analysis each quarter, highlighting areas of concern for the next 12 months.

· Develop, manage inventory targets to achieve targets to be in line with cost, KPIs to ensure on-time delivery to Internal / External Customers

· Develop, manage daily / weekly / monthly KPIs to control actual production output versus the Production Plan. Identify gaps, drive improvements and resolutions to resolve.

· Manage, review, respond to Customer Portals as required (shortages, launch tickets, service, scorecards, disputes, required updates, etc.)

· Ensure new part numbers (finished goods / raw material / WIP assemblies / components) are entered into the ERP on a timely basis, correct parameter settings to ensure accurate production planning and on-time delivery to the customer.

· Acts as liaison with customers regarding, but not limited to pre-production order variances / concerns, shipment window times, expedited freight requests, shortages, etc.

· Serve as a back-up to all Production Control & Logistics team functions as required to support the business operations.

· May be required off hours to manage/support the Customer and or internal issues/concerns that may impact the customer and operations.

· Ensure compliance with procedures, processes, work instructions, etc. in accordance with ISO requirements.

· Assists in maintaining and enforcing a safe workplace.

· Communicate with customer operating plans on a regular basis.

· Support the plant team in planning for shutdown periods, holidays, equipment move, bank builds, etc. to ensure no impact to the customer and or business operations.

· Attend daily/weekly production meetings as required. Communicate changes related to customer schedule changes, etc.

· Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization to ensure issues are communicated, addressed, and resolved in a timely manner.

· Required to support Bi-Annual Physical Inventories.

· Hands on in all areas, serves as a back-up for critical functions.

· Other duties, as needed.
