Job Description
Job Overview
This role will serve as the finance partner to the Global Flexibles R&D Chief Technology Officer and liaise with the Global Flexibles R&D Leadership team and with the Finance function. This role provides end-to-end finance process understanding and combines that with function understanding to support ongoing financial operations processes, projects and other requirements. The scope will include items such as annual budgeting, forecasting, reporting, allocation method partnership, general reviews, expense and capital support.

- Geographical scope: Global Flexibles R&D which includes corporate and business group connectivity.

- Decision-Making Authority: Advises, reports, proposes – leads through influence
- Functional dimensions: Global role, working with Amcor Business Groups and Corporate teams with frequent interactions across R&D and finance.
Accountabilities
- Act as a safety champion, putting safety first and promoting a culture where employees make it safety their priority.
- Partner with R&D leadership, providing key insights and support to strategic and operating plans, improving financial processes and supporting the implementation of best practices.
- Provide comprehensive financial management service to the global function, ensuring the linkage of applicable components.
- Maintain and continuously improve the financial infrastructure (systems, processes and procedures) to support business initiatives and ongoing operations including budgeting, strategic planning, forecasting, reporting protocols, KPIs and dashboard development and tracking, cost allocation strategies, project accounting, etc.
- Support the annual budget, month and quarterly forecasts, and financial comparisons and explanations of actual results versus the financial plans, forecasts and estimates.
- Drive standardization of monthly financial performance closing, including effective use of analyses for reporting and tracking, and accurate, timely reporting and analysis.
- Support global function-dedicated analytics and processes to optimally serve the function and meet corporate and BG needs.
- Articulate and explain financial metrics and reports (e.g. MMR’s) and ensure compliance.
- Develop and track progress on operating plans and performance measurement.
- Provide content for financial targets, obligations and metrics.
- Drive adherence to designation of authority, Amcor Policies & financial governance (e.g. Capex).
- Supervise, review and interpret all global month/quarter/year-end financial reports as well as month-end close processes.
- Coordinate monthly and/or quarterly management reports, ensuring consistency and quality of insightful variance analysis.
- Support the preparation and analysis of various targeted focus areas (sustainability, vitality, etc.).
- Analyze and interpret financials to identify trends driving results and make recommendations on potential changes to improve global performance.
- Support compliance with internal controls, Amcor accounting policies, USGAAP and SOX.
- Support development of capital investment requests and capital performance – recommend options to maximize results. Partner in developing capital. requests which may include liaising with others owning the work but ensuring clarity and alignment.
- Provide support to R&D members on strategic initiatives in financial related items.
- Drive simplification and standardization in all function-wide financial processes.
- Support cost and capital discipline followed by actions – ensuring clear understanding.
- Support additional projects as applicable, aligned toward sustaining or enhancing function financial capabilities and/or results.

Qualifications/Requirements
Formal Qualifications and Experience
- Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance required, MBA preferred; professional certifications could be advantageous.
- 5-7 years of experience in Finance with roles of increasing responsibility. 2 years financial planning and analysis preferred.
- 2 years of experience within Amcor strongly preferred.
- Manufacturing industry experience preferred.
- Experience working across a matrix organization (indirect leadership).
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Behaviours
- Additional element for success: command skills, managerial courage, influencing, process management, change management, business acumen, strategic agility, emotional intelligence, conflict management, cultural sensitivity and awareness, effective communications including across teams and regions, strong analytical skills – including proven financial and cost analysis, MS Office, fluency in English required and additional language capability is advantageous.
- Ability to travel up to ~20% which is situational to the role location and its requirements to work across the function.
