Automation & Controls Engineering Internship

Manchester, MI

About the Opportunity:

Amcor Rigid Packaging is seeking an Controls / Automation Engineer with an understanding of Computer Science / Artificial Intelligence that will commence May 2025 and will give the selected student; a challenging project-based work experience, the opportunity to learn about Amcor Rigid Packaging business, the packaging industry, and receive mentorship from business leaders. This role will report to the Automation Engineering Manager, and have significant exposure to manufacturing operations, controls systems, systems integration and analytical tools. This role will integrate AI models into existing automation frameworks, creating intelligent systems that can adapt and learn over time.

Internship Assignments:

• Collaborate with Automation Engineers on designing, developing an implementing Automated solutions that leverage Machine Learning and Deep Learning capabilities.
• Use Amcor Automation systems to streamline business operations and enhance efficiency across our systems.
• Receive mentoring and coaching from experienced Automation Engineer professionals
• Integrate AI models into automation systems and continuously monitor their performance for optimization

Basic Qualifications:

• Electrical/Mechanical Engineering / Data Science or related with a focus on Automation and AI.
• Strong programing skills along with knowledge of automation frameworks.
• 3.2 GPA or higher, cumulatively (will consider other if there is appropriate work experience)
• Legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without company sponsorship now or in the future
