Job Description
Drive and contribute to programs to provide solutions to customers while driving profitable growth. Work may include areas such as: research, applications development, materials enhancements and/or cost-out initiatives.
Is an advanced level contributor providing input to and executing complex assignments and projects while regularly providing mentoring and coaching direction to more junior professionals. Operates as a key resource across multiple markets, technologies and regions and contributions are applicable across existing and new to market or new to Amcor technologies. Works autonomously, requiring “expert” level technical support from others occasionally. Contributes to influencing decisions, semi-regularly outside of core area. Technical/product support across multiple products and/or processes – regularly includes key customers and/or initiatives.
WHAT YOU GET TO DO
- Leverage understanding of customer needs, their perceptions of their business in the market, and their values to rapidly drive results and relationships. Be valued by the customer in having a “seat at their table” in discussions with key developments.
- Leverage market and business intelligence to identify trends, emergent technologies in order to influence the business
- Partner on developing business cases for new market spaces or technologies in alignment with direction of Amcor
- Leverage how existing assets are utilized in order to break into new markets
- Lead programs in stage gate to support start-ups and launches.
- Chair technical reviews for the most significant and/or complex programs.
- Ensure technical rigor within stagegate process Independently plan, execute and analyze production trials with Design of Experiment, Lean, and statistical analysis
- Contribute to Amcor Intellectual property and protect IP through information management
- Leverage understanding of business processes across functions to continuously improve performance.
- Act as technical mentor within and across functions in order to advance Amcor technical acumen
- Contribute technical skills and aptitude for problem solving toward regional and global challenges
- Ensure proper documentation of work and contribute to knowledge beyond the organization, such as an external presentation.
- Integrate and communicate complex information beyond core team/function
- Enhance the knowledge and skills of the organization.
- Support a culture of continuous curiosity and learning with business impact.
- Scope and initiate vendor programs, including new raw material research.
- Use advanced knowledge of materials and processes to influence design solutions across the organization.
- Collaborate with areas such as Engineering, Operations and Quality to resolve technical challenges, supporting sustained solution ownership. This may include inputs on machine installations and improvements and participating in new capital project teams.
- Define material science capabilities required in the future and resources needed to execute projects in alignment.
WHAT WE WANT FROM YOU
- Undergraduate degree required. (Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Polymer Science or other related area preferred.) PhD or a Graduate degree is strongly preferred.
- 15 years of experience with demonstrated, progressive success in a technical capacity within a global manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to leverage design choices positively impacting market position with a longer term view considering multiple perspectives
- Demonstration of implementing platform solutions in a collaborative, structured way with appropriate tools and methodologies.
- Expertise in multiple technologies/processes leveraged to deliver value to the organization and business relationships
- Experience with key/national account customer relationship management – from a technical perspective as well as demonstrated ability to scale-up with a customer’s growth.
- Demonstration of conceptual thinking to understand complex issued, apply judgment and proceed an agenda proactively
