Environmental Lab Tech/Analyst
AMD Environmental, a well-established environmental consulting company, is looking for a Full and Part -time Environmental Lab Analyst for our Grand Island, NY office. This person will work approximately 20 – 40 hours per week and be responsible for preparing and analyzing samples and generating results reports.
Applicants must be willing to work flexible hours including occasional weekends, if needed. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, in addition to strong proofreading and multitasking skills are important to succeed in this role.
Lab analyst
$20- $22/hr.
Essential Job Duties:
- Produce analytical work in accordance with all applicable SOPs and approved analytical methods.
- Prepare samples for routine analyses, including quality control samples and calibration checks.
- Provide support to consulting staff by completing assessments, reports, project organization, and data entry.
- Monthly billing of samples received from outside clients.
- Recordkeeping of clients, sample volume, and all relevant data.
- Maintain the lab's A2LA and ELAP accreditations by ensuring all SOPs and policies are up to date, following and maintaining the lab’s quality event schedule, performing internal audits, holding managerial review meetings, and participating in proficiency testing requirements.
Qualifications
- Must have completed a college level Microbiology course; BS in a life science or environmental science preferred.
- Previous laboratory and/or microscopy experience required.
- Experience in counting/identifying structures under the microscope is preferred, but not required (will train). Experience in fungal spore identification, PLM (Polarized Light Microscopy), PCM (Phase Contrast Microscopy) and / or TEM (Transmission electron microscopy) is a plus.
- Quality Assurance/Quality Control experience required.
- Experience in supervision and/or management and maintenance of compliance for accreditation preferred, but not required.
- Any additional training or experience in other fields of testing is of benefit.
