What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Support Professional (DSP) -In Home position at AME Community Services?
Overview: AME Community Services is seeking a compassionate, patient, and creative Direct Support Professional (DSP) to work 1:1 with an adult male with autism in the Buffalo/Maple Lake area for a part-time/evening position. The DSP will assist with teaching essential life skills to promote greater independence both at home and in the community. The individual will benefit from someone who is flexible, proactive, and understands how to support and encourage their personal growth.
Key Responsibilities:
· Skill Development: Teach and support skills that promote independence, such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, and managing household chores.
· Social Skills: Model and reinforce appropriate social behaviors to foster positive relationships and enhance community interaction.
· Personalized Support: Work with the individual to explore preferred activities, integrating them into daily routines and outings in the community.
· Encouragement and Motivation: Support the individual in setting achievable goals, tracking progress, and celebrating successes.
· Collaboration: Communicate with family members, other support team members, to ensure consistent care and development.
· Documentation: Provide and maintain accurate and thorough documentation according to the individual’s programming and company guidelines.
Qualifications:
· Experience working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities is preferred, but not required. We provide comprehensive online and in-person training, including CPR. All training is paid
· A patient, creative, and innovative approach to teaching and guiding.
· Ability to work independently and show initiative in daily tasks.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· A desire to make a positive impact in the life of an individual with autism.
· A high school diploma or equivalent is required
· Valid driver’s license for community outings.

Schedule and Pay:
· Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 4p-8p
· The schedule is flexible, and additional hours may be added. There may also be opportunities to cross-train in the company for more hours.
· Pay is $19-$21/hr depending on experience.
