Position Overview:
We are seeking a qualified and motivated Stress Test Technician to join our team. In this role, you will conduct exercise and pharmacological stress tests, ensure patient safety, and assist in maintaining equipment functionality. While prior experience is preferred, we provide comprehensive training to help you excel in this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct Stress Tests: Perform exercise and pharmacological stress tests to assess cardiac function under the supervision of a cardiologist.
- IV Placement: Initiate intravenous access for pharmacological stress tests (training provided if needed).
- Patient Preparation: Explain procedures to patients, obtain consent, and prepare them for testing, including electrode placement for accurate ECG monitoring.
- Monitoring: Observe and document patients' vital signs, ECGs, and symptoms during testing, alerting the cardiologist to any concerns.
- Equipment Care: Maintain cleanliness and operational readiness of stress testing equipment, promptly reporting any issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the medical team to provide exceptional patient care and support a smooth testing process.
- Patient Support: Provide a calm and supportive environment, addressing patient concerns and ensuring comfort throughout the procedure.
Qualifications:
- Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology or related field, or
- EMT/Paramedic certification, or
- Registered Nurse (RN), or
- Certified Medical Assistant (MA) with at least two years of stress testing experience.
- Experience: Experience in conducting stress tests is preferred but not required; we will provide training for the right candidate.
- Skills:
- Familiarity with ECG monitoring and a basic understanding of cardiac function is a plus; additional training will be provided as needed.
- Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is a plus.
- Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide compassionate patient care.
- Adaptability: Willingness to learn and adapt to new procedures and technologies.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods during testing procedures.
- Capacity to assist patients onto and off testing equipment as needed.
- Manual dexterity for handling medical equipment and IV placement.
