What are the responsibilities and job description for the Baker/Pastry Chef position at Amelies French Bakery?
Job Summary
This is a beginners baking position. If you are willing to learn how to create high quality pastries and follow our pastry standard recipes we are looking for you! If you are looking to work in a fun, fast-paced, high energy environment where everyone on the team works hard and together to ensure great products are being produced this is the place for you! We are looking for individuals who are self-motivated, has attention to detail and is ready to make some dough!
Duties and Responsibilities
- No Experience Is Necessary
- Completing basic baking methods including but not limited to mousses, custards, French macarons, caramel, meringues, buttercreams
- Piping-French Macarons, filling mousse cups, rosettes, eclairs, finishing tarts, etc.
- Learn to understanding proper methods/times for proofing yeast items
- Learn to understand how to multi-task and prioritize tasks and items on the production list
- Learn to understanding hazardous foods and time/temperature abuse
- Learn to understanding FIFO and where items should be stored

Required Skills/Abilities
- Planning, multi-tasking and having sense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasks
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail
- Capable of working in a fast-paced, production environment
- Ability to follow company recipes and guidelines
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Working knowledge of baking techniques and the pastry-making process (is helpful but not necessary)
Physical Requirements
- Ability to move around all parts of the restaurant quickly.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times.
- Prolonged periods of standing and working in a kitchen.
- Exposure to extreme heat, steam, and cold present in a kitchen environment.
- Must be able to work early mornings, late nights, holidays, and unpredictable hours.
- Manual dexterity to cut and chop foods and perform other related tasks.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
