Job Title: Supervisor - Wastewater Treatment
Description
Ambitious professionals are sought to oversee the operations of a wastewater treatment unit, ensuring compliance with regulations and safety requirements. Key responsibilities include supervising operators, assigning tasks, training personnel, and maintaining reports and logs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise wastewater treatment operators, assign tasks, direct work, train staff, inspect work, discipline, coach, counsel, and evaluate performance.
- Ensure operating permit compliance by analyzing data and determining proper conditions.
- Participate in equipment maintenance, monitor plant processes, assist with startup and shutdown, and make minor repairs as needed.
- Maintain accurate logs, check operator logs, monitor reports, enter data into database, and prepare management reports.
- Conduct safety inspections, provide OSHA training, and investigate accidents.
- Adjust equipment settings to meet changing operational conditions.
- Collaborate with management for operations planning and assist with budget preparation.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Associate/Technical degree in environmental science, chemistry, or related field, plus extensive experience in wastewater treatment operations including supervisory experience.
- Licenses/Certifications:
- Bachelor's Degree:
- Degree major in chemistry, biology, engineering, microbiology, bacteriology, or similar discipline.
- Five years of hands-on experience in water treatment.
- Masters Degree:
- Degree major in chemistry, biology, engineering, microbiology, bacteriology, or similar discipline.
- Four years of hands-on experience in water treatment.
- High School/Diploma:
- Eight years of experience in water treatment operations, six of which must be hands-on.
- Valid driver's license.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of wastewater treatment practices, methods, and equipment.
- Good knowledge of local and state regulations governing wastewater treatment operations.
- Skill in operating and maintaining mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
- Supervisory, interpersonal, communication, and computer skills.
- Ability to pass a red and green color blindness test.
