What are the responsibilities and job description for the Itinerant School Mental Health Therapist (LCPC/LCSW) position at Amergis Healthcare Staffing?
Pay Range : $50 - $52
Mileage Offered at federal rate
Reporting directly to the assigned supervisor or principal, the School Therapist performs the following duties :
- Carries out the policies, procedures, and bylaws of the state and County Board of Education.
- Provides ongoing therapeutic intervention to students and their families.
- Provides group, individual, and family counseling, and crisis intervention services.
- Teaches parent effectiveness individually and / or in groups.
- Conducts family / parent information sessions.
- Provides staff development for teachers.
- Assesses psychological data, conducts intakes, and plans behavioral programs for the classroom and home.
- Offers parent drug education / substance abuse awareness as needed.
- Conducts the social history portion at the intake for all new students and their families.
- Reviews all educational and psychological data on all new students.
- Participates in development of IEP objectives.
- Assesses therapeutic needs.
- Coordinates scheduling of intake with program specialists.
- Develops an individual treatment plan with child and family.
- Prepares counseling summary to enable a student to move to placement in other more appropriate educational environments.
- Conducts transitional counseling sessions with mainstreamed students, as needed.
- Coordinates services with community agencies, as needed.
- Understands special education procedures, laws, and policies, and participates in IEP meetings.
- Provides home visits to families that are deemed as needing this service.
- Maintain and submit documentation required for Medical Assistance coordination.
- Maintain documentation on all individual / group / family sessions.
- Attend weekly clinical and staff meetings.
- Regular and predictable attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the building principal or supervisor.
