What are the responsibilities and job description for the crma/dsp position at Amergis?
Performs duties as delegated by a licensed nurse. Administers medications to patients as directed and documents the administration to the patient's medical record. May assist with general clerical duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Administers and accurately records the administration of medications for patients as prescribed by the physician. This includes liquid medications, eye drops and ointments, ear drops, and topical medications
- Obtains, records and reports patient vital signs as indicated during the administration of medications
- Observes, records and reports any symptoms and conditions of the patients that could be related to medication reactions, adverse drug reactions or medication side effects
- Seeks clarification on any medication orders that are unclear, unusual or incomplete
- Stores medications in a safe and accurate manner in accordance with the policies and procedures of the facility/client
- Adheres to all federal/state regulations regarding the safe storage and handling of medications
- Maintains complete and accurate medical records in compliance with the rules and regulation of all regulatory agencies
- Routinely inspects, cleans and monitors equipment and supplies to ensure patient safety
- Reports all equipment or supply issues to the appropriate site supervisor
- Demonstrates awareness of proper infection control practice by using universal precautions
- Adheres to all Amergis and worksite rules, policies and procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Valid CMA state certification or license if required by state/contract
- One (1) one year experience as a medication aide preferred
- Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
- Participation and completion of Amergis Competency program when applicable
- Current CPR if applicable
- TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
- Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
- Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
- Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
- Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
- Computer proficiency required
- Must be at least 18 years of age
